Project Work Flow

  • After the initial contact, we will set up a time to discuss your project.  If you are in the Cleveland area, we can arrange to meet in person, otherwise it will be a phone discussion.  The purpose of the first discussion is for you to describe your goals for your project and to ask questions.
  • After we discuss your needs and develop a plan, we will set up a contract detailing the work requested and the payment terms. For most services, no payment is required up front.
  • New and redesigned websites:
    • I will develop an initial design.  You will then be able to view the demo website online.
    • We will then discuss your suggested changes to the design.
    • Work is continued until you approve of the final design.
    • Payment is due only after you are sufficiently satisfied.
    • Your site goes live and you will receive help and support until it is working smoothly.
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) services:
    • You will receive an initial Baseline Report describing how you rank and how your site can be improved.
    • I will then develop an SEO Improvement Plan tailored for your website that describes the goals and action items to achieve those goals.
    • I will execute the SEO Improvement Plan and track your results
  • Custom applications: The time frame, project flow, and payment terms will depend on the scope of the project.

Technical Details

You will completely own all the rights to the design, images, and code developed for your site.  This is important if you want to make changes to the design later.  All images will either be designed by myself or purchased legally and the rights transferred to you for use on your website.

Your design will be fully XHTML and CSS compliant and tested in all the major web browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Opera, and Chrome).  A standards compliant and fully-tested design ensures that your website will be viewed the same by all visitors to your website.

Hosting

Kevin Day Web Design does not offer website hosting, and instead uses Blue Host and will help you set up your site with them.  Blue Host is a highly recommended hosting service and is the preferred service of WordPress.

Their rates start at $6.99/month for the basic plan that is sufficient for most websites.  If you believe you will have a higher traffic website or have specific needs, then I will gladly work with you to determine which plan works best for you.
